Kindle eBook Publishing, Copyrights and ISBN

According to U.S. Copyright Law once you fix an idea into tangible form it's copywritten at that moment. In order to ensure you have the maximum protection afforded to you under the Letter of the Law you may want to consider "registering" your copyright with the U.S. Library of Congress.

When you upload your ebook to Amazon, you're considered a publisher. Many of your questions will be answered as you go through the process of uploading. Go ahead an upload, it's fun and exciting.

You don't need an ISBN to upload and/or publish your ebook on Amazon's Kindle. If you decide to publish your ebook on other places such as Apple's iBook you may need an ISBN then for your ebook.
