Self Publishing - How to Get Started

Originally the Music Industry Connection Book Series was published in print form. In order to increase my cash flow and revenue stream I began looking at how I might make money online self publishing. Here’s what I found:

· The process to make money online self publishing is not hard.
· Making money online is not a get rich quick scheme.
· To make money online self publishing typically requires you take immediate daily action.
· Typically to make online self publishing you’ll need the following:

o A burning desire, almost to the pint of obsession to succeed.
o A product like an ebook, info-product or special report to sell.
o Website, minisite, webpage or blog to sell and promote your product from.
o A way to accept credit cards online
o An ebook marketing plan.
o A qu ick secure way to deliver your mp3 download, audio book or ebook to clients.

A burning desire is needed because you’ll undoubtedly have days, weeks even months were you are seeing little to know revenue being made. I’m not sure if your born with the capacity for burning desire to the point of obsession or not, but it seems like a prerequisite to achieve certain levels of success. You must tap into your own capacity for burning desire and apply it.

Creating a product like an mp3 download, audio book, ebook or special report is relatively straightforward and will afford you the opportunity to make money online self publishing. Here is what you do.

· Write about what you know.
· Include references and links to professionals and experts in that field, it adds credibility to your mp3 download, audio book, ebook or special report.

Your information can be as short or long as you want. To ensure value for your readers, your writing should do one or more of the following:

· Solve a problem
· Answer a question
· Tell a compelling story
· Give credible references and resources

In our micro-wave society we tend to want what we want, how we want it, when we want it. Give readers this, market your e-product daily almost to the point of obsession and you will position yourself to make money online self publishing.

This is meant to either get you started or get your creative juices flowing so you can create and implement a practical plan for your ebook, info-product, special report or self published paper back book. Remember your plan need not be elaborate for you to achieve success. It does call for you to take immediate daily action.

Self Publishing - POD and Vanity Press

POD and Vanity Press are words that are thrown around a lot these days. When I think of self-publishing I think of the writer/author taking on the business of publishing. They are responsible for creating, implementing and funding the marketing, promotions, printing, distribution and royalty collection of their books.

A self-publisher is responsible for acquiring business licenses, paying taxes, opening business checking accounts and monitoring inventory. You would be made to set-up your own publicity and book signings and/or hire an independent contract to help you with these duties. Your website is your responsibility. Getting your books into Barnes & Noble, Borders, Amazon.com, Books-A-Million and independent non-traditional bookstores is another task that the self-publisher must do.

The great thing is there are plenty of resources, links makemoneyselfpublishing.com, selfpublish.blogspot.com, books and conferences to help you with your journey. It is an amazing journey and worth the experience. I recommend reading every bit of information you can get your hands on. Once the information becomes redundant then you know you've got it. For instance, you should know that you'll want to register your copyright with the U.S. Library of Congress before sending it to anyone including a printer. You'll also need an ISBN Number to look like an established book publisher. Writers Block Will Not Stop You

Writer's Block is a thing of the past when you follow these simple steps. Writer's block is a mental block that you have now overcome. Writer's block is no, more. The technique for overcoming writer's block is below. Put the information to great use and experience a change in your writing capabilities simply by tapping into another part of your infinite creativity.

1. Stop thinking and speaking that you have writer's block
2. Write on word on a paper
3. Write any other words that come to mind on the paper, they don't have to be in any order, write them all over the page
4. Write down phrases as they come to you, they don't have to be related just write
5. Repeat this process on a new sheet of paper when the first one fills up, keep going until your mind hurts, then write some more
6. On each sheet of paper start connecting the word and phrases that go together to form sentences
7. Write those sentences on a new sheet of paper and add supporting details to each sentence.
8. Research anything that needs additional support.
9. Believe this will work then repeat the process over and over again.
10. GO...

Self Publishing Your Book

Self-publishing your own book is easier today than it's ever been as there are several ways to start publishing. You may publish your book by printing your own books, publishing your own ebook and/or audio book.

Depending on how determined you are you could have a ebook ready for publishing within one to seven days. The biggest thing stopping people from publishing their own ebook is fear. They often fear the ebook not being long enough or they will someone how mess it up. Let me say that while you may read all the books, blogs and magazines as well as watch a number of videos on book publishing one of the best ways of learning the process is by starting immediately. The longer you wait the more time you miss from engaging and selling your book to your audience.

This blog has more resources than I had before I published my first paperback or ebook. Additionally, I was homeless while working on my book, so you have little excuse for not getting started immediately. A word to the wise, you'll never truly be done with your book, because your creative imagination is always working and that's what version two, three, four and five come in.
